Here, we discuss the existing key standards for addressing robust characterization of nanomaterials based on their intended use in medical devices or as pharmaceuticals. As such, there is a strong need to establish a characterization system to support the reproducibility of nanoscience data particularly for studies seeking clinical translation. The lack of a universal reporting system and decentralized methodologies for nanomaterial characterization have resulted in a low degree of reliability and reproducibility in the nanomedicine literature. Understanding the interaction between biological structures and nanoscale technologies, dubbed the nano-bio interface, is required for successful development of safe and efficient nanomedicine products. The imaging experiments were repeated independently three times and similar results were received. c–j, Bright-field (left) and fluorescent (right) images of AuNRs incubated with PC-3 and DU-145 cells: small targeted AuNRs and PC-3 cells (c), strong Cy5 signals indicate efficient targeting small targeted AuNRs and DU-145 cells (d), relatively weak Cy5 signals indicate low targeting efficiency because of the low density of GRPR for this cell line small non-targeted (PEG-terminated) AuNRs and PC-3 cells (e), weak Cy5 signals indicate good targeting specificity small non-targeted AuNRs and DU-145 cells (f), minimal Cy5 signals indicate minimal non-specific binding large targeted AuNRs and PC-3 cells (g), strong Cy5 signals indicate efficient targeting large targeted AuNRs and DU-145 cells (h), weak Cy5 signals indicate good targeting specificity large non-targeted AuNRs and PC-3 cells (i), weak Cy5 signals indicate good targeting specificity and large non-targeted AuNRs and DU-145 cells (j), minimal Cy5 signals indicate minimal non-specific binding. The bar graph shows the mean values (n = 30), and error bars are the standard deviation. Higher intensities reflect higher targeting efficiency. b, Fluorescent intensities of Cy5 from 30 PC-3 (GRPR⁺) cells or 30 DU-145 (GRPR–) cells incubated either with targeted (GRPR) or non-targeted (PEG-terminated) AuNRs. The bar graph shows the mean values (n = 36), and error bars are the standard deviation.

a, Zeta potential measurements of the AuNRs at each surface functionalization step. From Merge Games’ website, it would seem the intended release window will be sometime in 2021 or 2022, depending on several factors.Targeting specificity of small and large AuNRs for prostate cancer cellsĪll cells were genetically encoded with green fluorescent protein for imaging. At this moment, the game is in early access, unreleased, and does not have an exact release date. However, given what I’ve seen so far, it looks incredibly promising and even a bit terrifying in some regards. Then along comes SMALLAND, an ambitious looking title that seems like it could be the answer to my desires.Īlthough its got a small scope, it has big shoes to fill in the open world survival genre that could be tough to match. Unfortunately, I had to come to terms with the fact that that could never be. I have to admit, though, that watching Ant Man a few years ago began to give me some ideas about shrinking to such small proportions (which were solidified during the second installment).

Add on top of it that I’m pretty much average size in height and weight too and, well, I’m pretty comfortable in my skin overall.

I don’t especially mind being a normal sized human all that much.
